He made his List A debut in 2010 and his first-class debut a year later, and has played Big Bash cricket for both Sydney clubs and county cricket for Surrey. Abbott made his Twenty20 international and one-day international debuts against Pakistan in October 2014, was named Bradman Young Cricketer of the Year in 2015 and was part of the Australian squad that won the 2023 World Cup.
