Cricket, written by people who were there

CricZone is a small newsroom covering Australian cricket at every level it is played. There is no standing vacancy list. There are three ways in, and each of them is read by a person.

Pitch a story

One paragraph on what the story is, one on why it is a story now, and one on what you already have: a source, a scorebook, a photograph, a set of numbers nobody has put together. Pitches for grade and pathway cricket are read with particular interest, because that is the reporting members fund and the part of the game most publications leave alone.

Write for us regularly

Contributors carry their own byline, their own author hub and their own archive on this site. Send two or three pieces you are proud of (published anywhere, or not published at all) and the beats you follow. Cricket experience matters more than a journalism qualification; being at grounds matters more than either.

Introduce yourself

Photography and video

CricZone licenses match and feature photography, and credits every frame on the article it appears on. Tell us which grounds you shoot at, what rights you can grant and for how long. Licensing terms are agreed before publication, never after.

Send a portfolio

Commercial and partnerships

Sponsorship, content partnerships, data and distribution. What CricZone will not do is put commercial work through the newsroom: sponsored work carries its disclosure above the headline and is never styled to read as independent reporting. How a brand appears sets out the surfaces.

What we cannot answer

CricZone does not run work experience placements, and it cannot answer general enquiries about breaking into cricket journalism with the care they deserve. A pitch about a real story will always get further than a request for advice.

Register for the CricZone letter

CricZone does not send a newsletter yet. This is a register of interest: leave your address and it goes on the list a first letter would be written for.

Your address is kept for this and nothing else, and it is never passed on. Ask us through the contact form and we will take it off the list.
