About Melbourne Stars

The Melbourne Stars are a men's Twenty20 franchise in the Big Bash League, playing in green at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. The club was formed for the league's first season in 2011-12, when Cricket Australia placed two teams in Melbourne, and its derby with the Melbourne Renegades has drawn the largest crowds in Australian domestic cricket. The Stars were minor premiers in the third and ninth seasons of the competition and reached the final in the fifth, eighth and ninth. Both Melbourne clubs are drawn largely from the Victoria state squad.
