About South Africa

South Africa are administered by Cricket South Africa, hold Full Member status at the International Cricket Council and are known as the Proteas after the country's national flower. The side entered international cricket in the 1888-89 season against a touring England team. An international ban linked to apartheid kept South Africa out of the game until 1991, after which they returned and played India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and the West Indies for the first time. They won the World Test Championship of 2023 to 2025.
