15-member squad announced for Afghanistan T20I series

New Delhi, 1 September 2026: Shreyas Iyer will continue to lead India in the upcoming three-match Twenty20 international series against Afghanistan in Delhi, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced Tuesday.
The men’s selection committee named a 15-member squad for the series, with Tilak Varma appointed vice-captain. Sanju Samson and Ishan Kishan have been selected as the two wicket-keeper options.
Abhishek Sharma and Vaibhav Sooryavanshi are also included in the batting group, while Shivam Dube and Axar Patel provide all-round options.
India’s bowling attack features Jasprit Bumrah, Arshdeep Singh and Harshit Rana in the pace department, alongside spin options Varun Chakaravarthy and Ravi Bishnoi. Washington Sundar and Nitish Kumar Reddy have also been named in the squad.
Bumrah, Washington, Nitish and Rana are subject to fitness clearance, according to the BCCI.
The three-match series will be played entirely in Delhi, beginning Sept. 13. The second T20I is scheduled for Sept. 15, followed by the series finale Sept. 17.
