Darwin to host opening Test as Australia name 13-player squad for Bangladesh series

Melbourne, 21 July 2026:

Cricket Australia has announced a 13-player squad for the upcoming NRMA Insurance Test Series against Bangladesh, with the two-match series to be played in Darwin and Mackay as part of the ICC World Test Championship.

The opening Test will be played in Darwin from Aug. 13-17, before the second Test takes place in Mackay from Aug. 22-26.

Australia’s squad features the return of captain Pat Cummins, Josh Hazlewood and Nathan Lyon after recovering from injuries, while veteran opener Usman Khawaja is unavailable following his retirement from Test cricket.

Australia squad: Pat Cummins (captain), Scott Boland, Alex Carey, Cameron Green, Josh Hazlewood, Travis Head, Josh Inglis, Marnus Labuschagne, Nathan Lyon, Steve Smith, Mitchell Starc, Jake Weatherald and Beau Webster.

Michael Neser, Todd Murphy and Brendan Doggett, who were part of Australia’s squad for the most recent Test in Sydney, have continued preparing with the extended group and remain available should changes be required before the series.

Chair of Selectors George Bailey welcomed the return of several senior players.

“The NSP looks forward to the return of Pat, Josh and Nathan. They have worked extremely hard, individually and with the SSSM teams, over the past few months to return from their respective injuries.

“While this is a 13-player squad, we have players prepared and available should any adjustments be required in the lead-up to these matches.

“As previously stated, the volume of cricket and schedule across the next 12 months are likely to present further opportunities across all formats for many players.”
