Ervine out of Sri Lanka ODIs with calf strain

Harare, 29 August 2025:
Zimbabwe captain Craig Ervine has been ruled out of the ODI series against Sri Lanka after suffering a calf injury on the eve of the first match in Harare. Sean Williams will lead the side in his absence.
An MRI scan confirmed the 40-year-old had a Grade II strain in his left calf and a chronic Grade I strain in his right.
Ervine, who has played 128 ODIs and scored 3,600 runs, last featured in the format against Ireland earlier this year. His absence coincides with Brendan Taylor’s return to international cricket after a three-year ban.
