Perth, 17 October 2025:

India held their first training session in Australia on Thursday ahead of the upcoming white-ball series, with senior player Rohit Sharma seen in a discussion with head coach Gautam Gambhir. A video of the session will be available on YouTube channel of CricZone.com.au on Friday afternoon.

Rohit and Virat Kohli batted side by side in the nets for nearly 30 minutes before Kohli was spotted chatting at length with bowling coach Morne Morkel. The Indian squad arrived in Perth in two batches over Wednesday and Thursday for the tour, which features three ODIs and five T20 internationals starting Oct. 19.

Both Rohit and Virat who retired from Test cricket earlier this year and ended their T20I careers after India’s World Cup victory in Barbados last year, could be playing in Australia for the final time. Their participation in the 2027 World Cup remains uncertain, depending on form and fitness.

New captain Shubman Gill has voiced strong support for the experienced duo, calling their presence crucial for the team. India are scheduled to train on Friday and Saturday.
