Lanning, Kapp, Bates headline star-studded 2026 Women’s Caribbean Premier League

Barbados, 29 August 2026: Former Australia captain Meg Lanning, South Africa great Marizanne Kapp and New Zealand veteran Suzie Bates are among a host of international stars set to feature in the 2026 Women’s Caribbean Premier League (WCPL), which will be played in Barbados from Sept. 6-17.

Four teams – Barbados Tridents, Guyana Amazon Warriors, Jamaica Empress and Trinbago Knight Riders will compete in this year’s tournament, with all matches scheduled for Kensington Oval in Bridgetown.

Jamaica Empress have secured one of the biggest signings of the competition in Lanning, with the Australian batting great joined by Ireland wicketkeeper-batter Amy Hunter, South Africa spinner Nonkululeko Mlaba, Pakistan’s Syeda Aroob Shah and New Zealand pacer Rosemary Mair.

Trinbago Knight Riders will also boast considerable international experience, led by South African all-rounder Kapp. India internationals Shikha Pandey and Yastika Bhatia, along with Australian pair Laura Harris and Madeline Penna, strengthen the Knight Riders’ squad.

Guyana Amazon Warriors have recruited a strong South African group featuring Shabnim Ismail, Chloe Tryon, Tazmin Brits and Nadine de Klerk. Australian all-rounder Erin Burns completes their overseas contingent.

Barbados Tridents, meanwhile, will feature New Zealand duo Bates and Maddy Green alongside India internationals Pooja Vastrakar and Kiran Navgire.

The four sides will contest six league matches before the tournament moves into the knockout stage. The teams finishing second and third will meet in a playoff on Sept. 16, with the winner progressing to the final against the league’s top-ranked team on Sept. 17.

The final will also be staged at Kensington Oval, bringing the curtain down on a WCPL edition packed with international talent.
