Afghanistan are a Full Member of the International Cricket Council with Test, one-day and Twenty20 international status. The Afghanistan Cricket Board was formed in 1995, became an affiliate member of the ICC in 2001 and joined the Asian Cricket Council in 2003. Full membership and Test status followed on 22 June 2017, awarded alongside Ireland and taking the number of Test-playing nations to twelve.
