Bracewell five-for, Samra blitz carry Flames past Rockers by eight wickets

Dublin, 13 September 2026: Michael Bracewell ripped through Edinburgh Castle Rockers with five for 12 before Amsterdam Flames comfortably chased down 119 to complete an eight-wicket victory in the European T20 Premier League at Malahide on Sunday.

After winning the toss and choosing to field, Amsterdam had to absorb an aggressive start from the Rockers, led by Ross Adair.

Adair attacked from the outset, striking 32 from only 16 deliveries with three fours and two sixes. His innings helped Edinburgh race to 68 for two during the six-over powerplay despite losing JJ Smuts for four.

Brandon McMullen kept the momentum going with 26 from 15 balls, but his dismissal triggered the decisive shift in the contest.

Bracewell took control through the middle overs, removing McMullen before dismissing Andries Gous for 14, Laurie Evans for six and Gareth Delany for six. He then accounted for Andrew Tye to complete an outstanding five-wicket haul.

Edinburgh had been well placed at 77 for two but lost their final eight wickets for only 41 runs as Amsterdam tightened their grip on the innings.

Captain Mitchell Santner attempted to hold the lower order together with 18 from 19 balls, but wickets continued to fall around him. Tim Pringle eventually removed Santner as the Rockers were dismissed for 118 in 18.3 overs.

Bracewell finished with remarkable figures of five for 12 from four overs, conceding at just three runs an over. David Payne, Kyle Klein, Jordan Neill, Pringle and Tim David shared the remaining wickets.

Amsterdam then made a controlled start to the chase through Samra and Steven Smith.

The opening pair put on 59 before Santner removed Smith for 25 from 27 balls. While Smith provided stability, Samra supplied the acceleration, hitting three fours and three sixes in his 40 from 26 deliveries.

By the time Jack Jarvis dismissed Samra at 89 for two in the 11th over, the Flames required only another 30 runs and were firmly in command.

Bas de Leede and Tim David ensured there was no late opening for Edinburgh. De Leede finished unbeaten on 22 from 19 balls, while David made 15 not out as Amsterdam reached 120 for two in 14.5 overs.

The victory was completed with 31 balls remaining, giving the Flames a convincing eight-wicket win after Bracewell's spell had transformed what began as a promising Rockers innings.

Bracewell was named Player of the Match for his match-defining five for 12.
