Carroll century powers Adelaide Strikers Academy to 165-run win, top of Top End T20 table

Darwin, 29 August 2026: Connor Carroll struck a blistering century as Adelaide Strikers Academy crushed Australian Capital Territory by 165 runs on Saturday, moving to the top of the nine-team Top End T20 Series standings on the final day of league competition before the semi-finals.

Carroll smashed 108 off 57 balls, including 12 fours and five sixes, to propel the Strikers Academy to 225-4 after ACT won the toss and elected to field at Gardens Oval.

ACT's chase never got going and were dismissed for just 60 in 9.5 overs, giving the Strikers Academy a commanding victory that also provided a significant boost to its net-run-rate.

Carroll provided the centerpiece of a dominant batting display. He shared useful partnerships with Jerrssis Wadia, who made 16 and Jason Sangha, whose 34 came from only 18 balls.

After Carroll departed with the score at 183-4, Henry Hunt and Noah McFadyen maintained the momentum. Hunt finished unbeaten on 33 from 19 balls and McFadyen added 17 not out from 13.

ACT were in immediate trouble in reply, slumping to 8-3 inside two overs. Jake Smith’s 17 was the highest score as wickets continued to fall regularly.

Tim Oakley took 3-18 from four overs while Waheguru Dhillon returned 3-3 from his only over. Lachlan Bangs claimed 2-9 as ACT's innings lasted just 59 deliveries.

The comprehensive win lifted Adelaide Strikers Academy to the top of the table with 10 points from five wins in six matches. Bangladesh HP has the same number of matches, wins and points but sits second because of an inferior net-run-rate.

The top four teams advance to the semi-finals, scheduled for Sunday, Aug. 30, in Darwin. The tournament final will also be played Sunday in the late afternoon local time.
