Humphreys four-for powers Belfast Wolves to crushing 103-run win over Glasgow Cosmic

Dublin, 13 September 2026: Matthew Humphreys claimed four wickets as Belfast Wolves produced a dominant all-round performance to thrash Glasgow Cosmic by 103 runs in the European T20 Premier League at Malahide, Dublin, on Sunday.

After being asked to bat first, Wolves posted an imposing 187 for eight from their 20 overs, built around half-centuries from Lorcan Tucker and Mark Chapman. Glasgow's reply never gathered momentum and they were bundled out for 84 in 14.5 overs as Humphreys finished with outstanding figures of four for 19.

Wolves lost Paul Stirling cheaply for three, but Harry Manenti and Tucker quickly repaired the innings. The pair took the total to 84 before Manenti departed for a brisk 39 from 26 balls, an innings containing three fours and two sixes.

Tucker provided the stability through the middle overs, reaching 50 from 45 deliveries, while Glenn Maxwell briefly lifted the tempo with 13 from six balls. The major late acceleration, however, came from Chapman.

The left-hander struck 54 from only 25 balls at a strike rate of 216, hitting three fours and four sixes. His assault helped Wolves push towards 190 despite losing wickets regularly in the closing overs. Tucker finished with 50, while Chapman was dismissed in the final over as Wolves closed on 187 for eight.

Liam Livingstone was comfortably Glasgow's most effective bowler, taking three for 27 from his four overs. Ali Khan and Paul van Meekeren claimed two wickets apiece, although both proved expensive as Wolves maintained a scoring rate of more than nine runs an over.

Chasing 188, Glasgow were immediately put under pressure. Finn Allen fell for six and Jason Roy managed only two as the top order struggled to establish a platform.

Captain George Munsey made 10 before falling to Maxwell, while Livingstone and James Neesham were both removed by Humphreys for one. Richie Berrington then became Humphreys' fourth victim as Glasgow slipped to 61 for six.

Moises Henriques offered the only substantial resistance with 31 from 25 balls, including two sixes, but his dismissal left the chase effectively beyond repair. No other Glasgow batter reached 20.

Humphreys was the standout performer with the ball, conceding just 19 runs from four overs for his four wickets. Chris Jordan returned an economical one for eight from two overs, while Mark Adair, Maxwell and Gavin Hoey also picked up a wicket each.

Glasgow’s innings ended at 84 after Ali Khan was run out in the 15th over, with Oliver Davidson unable to bat after being listed absent hurt. The emphatic victory gave Belfast Wolves two points, with Humphreys named Player of the Match.
