Kundu, Trivedi steer chase after early wobble

Brisbane, 21 September 2025:
Abhigyan Kundu and Vedant Trivedi shared a match-winning stand to give India U19 a seven-wicket victory over Australia U19 in the opening Youth ODI at Ian Healy Oval on Sunday.
Batting first, Australia posted 225 for nine in 50 overs, built around John James’ unbeaten 77 off 68 balls. Tom Hogan (41) and Steven Hogan (39) offered resistance, but regular breakthroughs from India’s attack kept the hosts in check. Henil Patel took 3 for 38, while Kishan Kumar and Kanishk Chouhan picked up two wickets apiece.
India’s reply started quickly with Vaibhav Suryavanshi hammering 38 off 22 balls, before Australia hit back through Charles Lachmund (2 for 46) and Hayden Schiller (1 for 59). At 56 for 3, the chase looked uncertain.
Kundu (87 not out off 74, with five sixes) and Trivedi (61 not out off 69) settled the contest, adding an unbroken partnership to see India home comfortably.
India lead the three-match series 1-0, with the second ODI scheduled for Tuesday.
