Miller finishes chase after Adair strikes as Wolves beat Flames by five wickets

Dublin, 10 September 2026: David Miller produced a composed unbeaten 42 after Mark Adair led an impressive bowling effort as Belfast Wolves defeated Amsterdam Flames by five wickets in the European T20 Premier League at Malahide on Thursday.

Set 142 for victory, Wolves reached 144 for five in 19 overs, with Miller guiding the chase to its conclusion after the Flames had threatened to drag themselves back into the contest.

Amsterdam were earlier bowled out for 141 from their 20 overs after being asked to bat, with Adair returning three for 25 and Saurabh Netravalkar and Fred Klaassen claiming two wickets apiece.

The Flames lost Yuvraaj Samra and Steven Smith cheaply to slip to nine for two before Bas de Leede and Curtis Campher provided an aggressive recovery. De Leede struck 39 from just 20 deliveries, including five fours and two sixes, while Campher made 22 from 13 as the pair pushed the total to 70 by the end of the seventh over.

Their dismissals, however, stalled Amsterdam’s momentum. Tim David contributed a brisk 17, while captain Scott Edwards made 20, but regular wickets prevented the Flames from putting together another substantial partnership. Tim Pringle’s unbeaten 15 helped them reach 141 before the final wicket fell from the last ball of the innings.

Wolves began the chase positively through Paul Stirling, who struck 26 from 16 balls as they raced to 51 for one in the powerplay. Harry Manenti then provided stability with 33 from 34 deliveries, while Lorcan Tucker chipped in with 16.

Amsterdam kept themselves in the match by reducing Belfast to 100 for four and later removing captain Glenn Maxwell for six with the score on 127.

Miller, though, remained in control. The left-hander struck four sixes in his unbeaten 42 from 26 deliveries, ensuring the required rate never became a serious problem. Chris Jordan joined him for the closing stages and struck the winning runs as Wolves completed the chase with six balls remaining.

Adair was named Player of the Match for his three-wicket spell, which played a decisive role in restricting Amsterdam to a manageable total.
