Payne, Campher fire Amsterdam Flames to five-wicket win over Glasgow Cosmic

Dublin, 16 September 2026: David Payne’s three-wicket haul and a composed 44 from Curtis Campher helped Amsterdam Flames strengthen their position near the top of the European T20 Premier League table with a five-wicket victory over Glasgow Cosmic at Malahide on Wednesday.

Amsterdam Flames overcame an early wobble in their chase before cruising to the 127-run target in 16 overs, completing their sixth victory of the tournament and moving to 13 points after 10 matches.

Glasgow had appeared well placed for a more competitive total when captain George Munsey and Liam Livingstone built the centrepiece of their innings. Munsey struck 51 from 45 balls, including three fours and four sixes, while Livingstone supplied the acceleration with 44 from only 27 deliveries, hitting two fours and three sixes.

The pair helped Cosmic recover from the early loss of Finn Allen for a first-ball duck and carried the score to 104 before the innings unravelled dramatically.

Munsey’s dismissal in the 15th over triggered a collapse which saw Glasgow lose their final eight wickets for only 22 runs. From 104 for two, they were bowled out for 126 with one delivery remaining in the innings.

Bas de Leede inflicted much of the late damage, returning exceptional figures of four for six from 1.5 overs, while Payne’s earlier breakthroughs proved equally important. The left-arm seamer finished with three for 27 from his four overs, including the wickets of Allen, Livingstone and Michael Leask. Michael Bracewell and Aryan Dutt also kept the scoring under control, conceding only 20 and 22 runs respectively from their four-over spells.

Amsterdam’s chase was not entirely straightforward at the outset.

Yuvraaj Samra departed for four in the opening over before Steven Smith fell for five, and when de Leede was dismissed for 11, the Flames had slipped to 27 for three in the fifth over.

Campher and Bracewell steadied the innings with a 47-run fourth-wicket partnership. Bracewell struck four boundaries in his 21 from 15 balls before Livingstone removed him with the score on 74.

Campher continued to take the initiative, striking five fours and a six in a 30-ball 44. By the time he was dismissed at 96 for five in the 13th over, Amsterdam required only another 31 runs.

Captain Scott Edwards and Tim David ensured there would be no late opening for Glasgow. Edwards finished unbeaten on 20 from 19 deliveries, while David struck an unbeaten 13 from nine balls, including a six, as the Flames reached 127 for five after 16 overs.

Tymal Mills was Glasgow’s most successful bowler with two for 32, while Ali Khan, Reuben Wilson and Livingstone claimed one wicket apiece.

The result leaves Amsterdam Flames on 13 points from 10 matches, with six wins, three defeats and one no-result. Their net run-rate of +1.037 keeps them among the leading sides in a tightly contested top section of the table.

Edinburgh Castle Rockers and Rotterdam Dockers are also on 13 points but have each played nine matches, while Belfast Wolves remain in contention on 11 points from nine games.

For Glasgow Cosmic, the defeat completed a difficult league programme. They remain fifth with four points from 10 matches, having recorded two wins and eight defeats, with a net run-rate of -1.450.

The contrast was reflected in Wednesday’s contest: Glasgow had enough quality in Munsey and Livingstone to build a platform, but Amsterdam’s bowling depth turned a promising position into a below-par total before Campher’s controlled counter-attack made the chase comfortable.
