About Cricket Australia XI
Cricket Australia XI is an invitational side formed in 2015 to give young players who had missed state selection more time in the middle. It entered the national one-day competition for three seasons from 2015-16, its squad drawn each year from contracted players left out of their states' fifty-over squads. The team made its List A debut against New South Wales in October 2015 and won its third match, against Tasmania, by three runs. Since leaving the one-day competition the side has been used for first-class and Twenty20 matches against teams touring Australia.
