Pakistan’s left-arm spinner Noman Ali once again proved his worth in home conditions, taking six wickets in South Africa’s first innings to hand the hosts a crucial 109-run lead on the third day of the first Test at Gaddafi Stadium. The 39-year-old’s figures marked his ninth five-wicket haul in Test cricket, the most by a Pakistan left-arm spinner.

Playing his 20th Test, Noman’s latest performance lifted his career tally to 89 wickets since making his debut against South Africa in Karachi in 2021. He surpassed former spinner Iqbal Qasim’s record of eight five-wicket hauls, achieved over 86 innings, reaching the milestone in just 37 innings.
